Corporate Leadership Seminar--Professor Anders Ortenblad of Halmstad University, Sweden

August 16, 2008-- Manila Business College held a Seminar on Corporate Leadership with Professor Anders Ortenblad , Visiting Lecturer and Researcher from Halmstad University, Sweden . The participants consisted of Ph.D and MBA students. The seminar included group discussions, debates and business simulations designed to create a highly effective learning experience. It explored answers to questions such as, “Why isn’t world a better place?” “Do we need Leaders?” “How to be a more authentic leader?” and “How to build the spirit of teamwork?”

At the end of the day, the participants concluded that a Strong and Effective Leadership is the foundation for creating value within an organization and to avoid chaos. The seminar provided the students with a practical roadmap for developing their leadership skills and increasing employee morale and productivity.


FUN FUN FRIDAY AT SM SAN LAZARO ACTIVITY CENTER

Manila Business College students showed their talents in dancing and singing last Friday, August 15, 2008 during the Fun Fun Friday activity at SM San Lazaro.

Janno Antonio, a stand-up comedian, was the host of the fun-filled event. Freshman student, Mr. Malvin Fong, wowed the audience by showing his stunts and graceful moves on the dance floor. Ms. Patricia Ann Lopez, on the other hand, performed the song “Torete” while playing the guitar herself. Miss Manila Business College 2007, Marie Kris Batallones together with Miguel Adalia sang “Always be my Baby” by David Cook. The activity ended with an R&B dance hit from the freshmen dancers.

Manila Business College will open its new Academic year with a bang by holding a rock concert entitled, “MAKE UR Career MOVE!” presented in cooperation with SM City San Lazaro & Coca Cola Bottlers Philippines and Sangguniang Kabataan, on June 21, 2008, 2:00 pm at SM San Lazaro Cinema 6 .

The event will feature live performances from RIVERMAYA, alternative bands, solo performers, and cool dance acts , plus a stunning visual presentation on career options available at Manila Business College. Chances to get Cash Discount Certificates and Scholarships will also be given to lucky student guests during the event.

This concert aims to help the youth generation in achieving their dreams. MANILA BUSINESS COLLEGE is committed to help every student to turn their potentials into performance and succeed in every area of their life.

First Collegiate Sports Awarding Ceremonies

The Manila Business College and the MBC Student Business Club held its First Collegiate Sports Awarding Ceremonies last Tuesday, May 13 at the SM San Lazaro Mall Activity Center .

The MBC Student Business Club of the Manila Business College, composed of multi-cultural students (Mongolian, Russian, Chinese and Filipino) competed in different sports such as Basketball, Badminton, Ping-Pong and Volleyball.

MBC set aside a week to hold the 1st Sports Competition in encouraging teamwork and sportsmanship among students and develop mental, emotional and physical fitness on competitive sports. One of the highlights of the program is a FASHION SHOW by students wearing the Spring & Summer Collections sponsored by Hugs Fashion World and Collezione located at SM San Lazaro.


Manila Business College 1st ESL Culminating Activity

Manila Business College recently held its 1st ESL Culminating Activity . Forty-three Chinese students graduated from the English as a Second Language (ESL) Program , after the strain of exercises, tests, credits and exams (and its nerve-racking oral examination). Ms. Mariecor Salas-Ding, Ms. Virginia Pike and Ms. Alma Linsangan gave all their support, efforts and patience to hone these students to well-rounded, competent, English-speaking individuals.
Highlights from the activity include participation of the different levels of students showcasing their talents in singing, dancing, oration, and interpretative reading.

Manila Business College holds Art Exhibit for a Cause

The Manila Business College located in the heart of Manila held the opening of the Art/Painting Exhibit last Monday May 12, 3:00-5:00 pm. at the MBC Lobby entitled “For a Greener Future” . The exhibit showcased the works of the featured artist, Mr. Albert T. Magsumbol and students who won in the recent Art/Painting Competition.

The Art Exhibit had an array of dignitaries like His Excellency Ambassador Harry Angping and wife, Congresswoman Zenaida Angping , to cut the ceremonial ribbon. They were joined by well known Japanese Artist Dr. Teruko Haga , a philanthropist and a professor in Tokyo University.
The proceeds from the Art Exhibit will be donated to Manila Business College Foundation Scholarship Fund.

The Art Exhibit is open to the public from May 12 to 16 at the Manila Business College.


Wichita State University and Whitireia Community Polytechnic Appoint Manila Business College As Its Educational Partner

Recently, Mr. Vince Altum, Associate director for Admission of the Wichita State University of Kansas, USA and Ms. Kaye Jujnovich, Associate Dean, Faculty of Health, Education & Social Science of Whitireia Community Polytechnic, Porirua City, New Zealand has appointed Manila Business College as their Educational Partner.

Wichita State University, one of America’s top national universities in Kansas, USA has opened its doors to international students from Asia including the Philippines. Students of Manila Business College have the opportunity to study variety of course degree offerings at their campus.

On the other hand, Whitireia Community Polytechnic, allows MBC students in their junior year to a paid internship to get first hand management information and work experience in the host country.

New Dean of the MBC Graduate School of Management

Manila Business College is pleased to welcome the new Dean of the Manila Business College Graduate School of Management, Dr. Guo Xiangang.

Dr. Guo is a celebrated business management expert, and founder of one of the world’s leading research study in the field of management and entrepreneurship– the G Management Model. Dr. Guo will be assigned to coordinate the assessment and development of academic programs within the department and address matters relevant to the mission of the Asia Pacific Graduate School of Management. He is scheduled to start on July 11, 2006.

World University Presidents Summit

Manila Business College has been invited to participate in the World University Presidents Summit: Reflections on Diversity and Harmonization which will be hosted by the Commission on Higher Education (CHE), Thailand’s Ministry of Education. The prestigious event will be held at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok, Thailand on July 19-22, 2006.

The purpose of the summit is to promote closer cooperation among higher education from over the world, and to provide them opportunities to discuss a number of mutually reinforcing developments and issues inside the world of higher education.
